The Ten Commandments for the Construction Worker

Personal prevention of the coronavirus disease

  1.  Personal hygiene and hand washing – I will maintain a high level of personal hygiene and wash my hands thoroughly at all times, especially before leaving the house to go to a public place; before eating or preparing food; after accidentally touching a person or a surface or container without gloves; before putting on gloves; after removing gloves and before entering a transportation vehicle.

  2.  Maintaining the 2-meter rule – I will make sure not to approach people at a distance of less than 2 meters. I will greet them from a distance. When I speak to another employee, I will try to turn my face away from them and not look directly at them in order to eliminate the possibility of infection through saliva droplets.

  3.  Use of a face mask – When around other employees, in an elevator and in transportation vehicles, I will make sure to use a face mask while maintaining the 2-meter rule.

  4.  Use of sterile disposable gloves – During my work, I will use sterile gloves under my work gloves and will replace them with new disposable gloves after removing them. I will not serve food to others or prepare food until I have thoroughly washed my hands and worn sterile, disposable gloves. I will use sterile disposable gloves while traveling in a vehicle that transports others.

  5.  Personal symptom check – Before leaving the house, I will check that my body temperature is not higher than 38 degrees Celsius and that I am not suffering from symptoms of difficulty breathing or coughing (except for cough or difficulty breathing resulting from a chronic condition such as asthma or another allergy).

  6.  Use of personal tools – As much as possible, I will make sure to use regular tools and will not accept tools from another employee or hand over tools to another employee.

  7.  Disinfection of tools – If I still use tools that I did not previously have, I will ensure that these tools are disinfected before using them.

  8.  Behavior in eating and rest areas – I will avoid crowding and will observe the 2-meter distance rule from others. I will not pass food or drink to others or accept food or drink from them.

  9.  Elevator Behavior – When using an elevator, whether it is a passenger elevator or an employee elevator, I will ensure that there are no more than 2 employees in the elevator and maintain a distance of 2 meters from the other employee. If I use an employee elevator, I will not attempt to operate this elevator myself and it will be operated only by the other employee who is responsible for operating it.

  10.  Behavior in a transportation vehicle – Before entering the vehicle, I will make sure to wash my hands and wear gloves; I will make sure to maintain a distance of 2 meters from another person before entering the vehicle; I will use a face mask and sterile gloves during the trip; I will not sit next to the driver; I will keep a maximum distance from another employee and drive with the windows open.

I commit to maintaining my health and, in doing so, maintaining the health of others.
