In light of the Corona pandemic: The residence visas of approximately 1,700 Chinese workers in the construction industry will be extended.
The decision is intended to prevent harm to construction and infrastructure projects in Israel.
According to the decision, the residence visas of 1,700 veteran Chinese workers will be extended, in light of the postponement of the arrival of new workers from China.
In December 2019, the Ministry of Construction and Housing conducted professional selections for 1,000 of the 2,000 foreign workers designated to work in the construction industry in accordance with the agreement signed between the countries. These workers passed rigorous professional tests on behalf of Israel in their home country, were found to meet the threshold conditions required by the bilateral agreements between Israel and China, and were expected to begin arriving in Israel on February 10, 2020, to replace the veteran construction workers...
